Skein

Skein is my first solo RPG. It's designed to use books and text as its medium of play. It’s inspired by House of Leaves, aiming to capture the sensation of "losing yourself in thought."

The game takes 10–20 minutes. You read and play, mark the text with a pencil and resist thinking about the proverbial "pink elephants"—part of the game 'mechanics' is that you can not think of a Presence (the Minotaur) that goes through the text together with you.

To play, print and fold the trifold at the marked blue lines, grab a book and a pencil, and scribble your way through a maze of text. When you're done, the pamphlet doubles as a bookmark.

Fair warning: the layout is intentionally chaotic—I wanted to experiment with layout, different fonts, scrambled or highlighted words, etc., in an attempt to make an ergodic text.
