“You see,” said Colon, “thieves are organized here. I mean, it’s official. They’re allowed a certain amount of thieving. Not that they do much these days, mind you. If you pay them a little premium every year they give you a card and leave you alone. Saves time and effort all around.”
— Sir Terry Pratchett, Men at Arms
Finders Keepers, Losers Weepers is a game where you create the guilds and factions ruling the city. You do this by rolling dice, stacking them into towers on a hex-grid map, and interpreting their results with some table prompts.
Each die becomes a beacon of a guild’s influence over a part of the city.
Factions compete over territory, and try to rise above the others.
The source of inspiration:
When The Walls Fall, by Molomoot
Guildmasters's Guide to Ravnica, by WotC
Ankh-Morpork, by sir Terry Pratchett
To play, you’ll need:
- 1-4 players.
- 30-45 minutes.
- A standard set of dice per faction in play.
- The hex grid map and prompt tables provided here.
How to play:
1. Choose a faction and its basic expression.
2. On your turn, roll your highest order die (start with the d20).
3. Check the result against the prompt tables.
4. Interpret the prompt, individually or as a group.
5. Place the rolled die on an available hex, or stack it into a tower you control.
6. Pass the turn to the next player.
7. The game ends when everyone has rolled and placed all of their dice.
The end result:
A clearer picture of who's who in the city, and the tensions between different factions should have emerged naturally. You can then use this as a starting point to discuss quest hooks for future sessions.
What's inside:
1. A 10-page booklet.
2. Prompts to spark dramatic turns.
3. A printable hex-grid map of the city.
4. Fantastic art assets, courtesy of: Bert Bogaerts (Bertdrawsstuff), Dyson Logos, Fernando Salvaterra, and Penflower Ink.

Such an interesting and fun way to add depth to any setting in your games. I'm planning on using this solo for session prep, but it would also make a terrific game for a group -- particularly for those nights where one of your players needs to cancel, etc. The information is really well laid out, and I appreciate the tables being available on the hex map!
Thank you very much!
